White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the commencement of flights transporting undocumented immigrants to Guantanamo Bay for repatriation. She underscored President Trump’s commitment to deporting violent undocumented individuals and preventing the United States from becoming a sanctuary for criminals from other countries. Both Venezuela and Colombia have expressed their willingness to collaborate on these repatriation initiatives.
Leavitt also responded to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s recent comments regarding the accommodation of an undocumented immigrant, cautioning that the administration would hold Democratic governors accountable for any breaches of federal immigration laws.
In a separate briefing, Leavitt criticized the media for mocking Trump in 2020 when he proposed that COVID-19 may have originated from a laboratory in Wuhan. She noted that subsequent intelligence corroborated his assertion, while the Biden administration failed to reveal this information in a timely manner.
John Ratcliffe, the newly appointed CIA director under Trump, shared similar concerns, stating that the CIA had overlooked evidence regarding the origins of COVID-19. He also outlined plans to create a national laboratory aimed at advancing artificial intelligence research, positioning the United States as a frontrunner in emerging technologies, akin to the role of the Manhattan Project in the development of nuclear weapons
