(Gray News) – A 2-year-old boy died after he suffered a ‘medical episode’ at preschool.
On Jan. 14, the toddler, identified as Jude Gerrard, “suffered a fatal medical episode” at the Early Learners Day Nursery in England, according to a press release.
“The child was taken to the hospital by paramedics,” the release continued. “He was sadly pronounced deceased at the hospital and his family is being supported.”
The boy’s death is “currently being treated as unexplained” and police are investigating “to establish the full circumstances and cause of death.”
In a statement, Jude’s parents shared that they’re heartbroken and devastated.
“This is our sweet baby boy, Jude Gerrard. We are absolutely heartbroken and devastated beyond words by this shocking and unexpected loss of the love of our lives,” the statement said.
The parents continued, “Our lives will never be the same again, he really was too good to be true and we can’t believe he has been taken away from us like this, with something so preventable.”
A postmortem has been conducted, but the cause of death is being withheld pending further reports.
