The scene from the ground after an air ambulance crashed into a Philadelphia street on Friday, January 31, is captured in horrifying video.
Officials verified that someone on the ground had also perished as a result, in addition to the six passengers on the air ambulance.
Along with four other passengers, the jet had been transporting a Mexican girl who had been getting treatment for months in the hospital and her mother back home.
Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, the flight operator, stated that they ‘cannot confirm any survival’ until the awful fate of all six people on the jet was known; therefore, casualties had been anticipated.
According to a follow-up statement from Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, a person in a car was the seventh person killed in the collision.
The majority of the other 19 people who were hurt in the accident have since been discharged from the hospital.
When the jet struck the ground in a crowded part of Philadelphia, it created a fireball that damaged several buildings and automobiles.
As a result, several gadgets, such as doorbells and dash cams, captured the terrifying events and the devastation that followed.
Just seconds after taking off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, the jet is seen in some of the footage crashing to the ground. Other videos, which present other viewpoints and angles, have been making the rounds on social media.
A dash cam in a car a short distance from the scene of the jet crash provides further footage.
The footage shows the plane plummeting to the ground before the large explosion from the accident illuminates the night sky, with smoke and flames rising high from the impact site.
Warning: contains distressing scenes
‘High-impact accident,’ according to National Transportation Safety Board chair Jennifer Homendy, left the jet ‘extremely fragmented.’
Authorities have been trying to determine the extent of the damage and to get as complete a picture of what transpired as they can.
In an effort to learn more about the air ambulance’s last moments, investigators are gathering debris from the aircraft and searching for the cockpit voice recorder.
Piecing together the sequence of events that led to the plane’s accident is crucial because air traffic control was not notified prior to the incident.
After instructing the aircraft to “turn right when departing,” airport personnel attempted to elicit a response from the aircraft by asking, “You on frequency?” around 30 seconds later.
Afterwards they raised the alarm, with a controller saying: “We have a lost aircraft. We’re not exactly sure what happened, so we’re trying to figure it out. For now the field is going to be closed.”
